Ed grew up in Manalapan, New Jersey and graduated in 1980 from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina where he met Judy, his wife of 42 years. Ed and Judy have three wonderful sons -- Eddie, Jeff and Joey.

Ed, Judy and their son Eddie own and operate Wen-Gap, LLC and Bay Partners LLC, a Wendy’s franchise in the Newport News, VA area. Currently they have 39 locations.

Forty-five years ago, Ed began his Wendy’s career as a manager trainee. He held positions as a General Manager, District Manager, Area Director and Franchise Area Director before becoming a franchisee in 1989. Ed has been a franchisee for 35 years after working for the Wendy’s Brand his first 10 years.

Ed was inducted into the Wendy’s Hall of Fame at the September 2010 World Wide Update Meeting. In 50 years, there are only 74 recipients. Previously, he won a Wendy Award for excellence in all areas of business from operations to training and development. Ed also won a Jim Near Employer of Choice Award for his people development programs. He is also inducted in the QSCC Hall of Fame making him only one of three to have won both Hall of Fame Awards.

Ed has contributed much to the Wendy’s system. He served on the Franchise Advisory Council (FAC) for a total of eight years. During that time, Ed also chaired the Supply Chain Sub-Committee and was involved in the negotiations that led to the formation of QSCC. He was elected as the Chairman of the Board for QSCC as their first chairman where he served for three years. QSCC is the supply chain arm of Wendy’s and currently handles over $3.5 billion dollars. He still sits on the board serving in his tenth year. Ed also formed, with the support of the COO of Wendy’s, the Next Generation Sub-Committee. The purpose of this group is developing our next generation of leaders and listen to their new and ground breaking ideas. He chaired this committee for three years.

A strong supporter of The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, Ed sponsored The Colonial Golf Classic for 13 years to raise funds for the DTFA and Wendy’s Wonderful Kids. Also, one of his restaurants has hosted the Wendy’s High School Heisman Banquet for the State of Virginia for 10 years. In 2016 he rode his bicycle across the country (3,816 miles in 72 days) to Honor Wendy’s Founder Dave Thomas and his passion for adoption and foster care. He raised over $400,000.
