This morning we start on the Old Appalachian Trail (OAT) where it crosses Laurel Springs Drive 1.7 miles from the Wintergreen Drive Intersection.   The OAT was part of the Appalachian Trail prior to the development of Wintergreen.  We’ll follow the OAT a short distance to its junction with the Appalachian Trail outside the resort near Dripping Rocks on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Our destination is Cedar Cliffs, one of the more beautiful spots on the AT.  We may even meet a thru-hiker headed for Maine.   This is our gentlest Sunday morning hike and the only one that takes us outside Wintergreen.

Free. No registration, just show up.

Meet on the front porch of The Market at Wintergreen Resort (Exxon Station) for an informal guided hike. (If driving, please park across Mountain Inn Loop.)

While the area hosts a famous resort, the trails into and around Wintergreen’s undisturbed forests and streams are teaming with flora, fauna and fungi. Appropriate footwear is advised.

Our Sunday morning hikes cover 1-to-1.5 miles of moderate terrain and are designed to have us back in time for the 11:00 am Coffee Concert.  We travel to the starting point in carpools or buses, departing promptly from the parking lot across from The Market.  Sturdy footwear is recommended.
