Nicoletta Moss
Conducting and Artistic Leadership Fellow, Wintergreen Music
Nicoletta Moss is a Greek-American conductor known for bringing a passionate presence, commitment to inclusivity, and support of lifelong musicianship both on and off the podium. Nicoletta is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Kentucky, serving as conductor of the UK Philharmonia and New Horizons Band & Orchestra and assistant conductor of the UK Symphony Orchestra and UK Opera Theatre. Launching in 2025, Nicoletta will lead the UK Medical Orchestra in the College of Medicine, a new initiative for medical students, faculty, and staff in the Lexington community.
Previously, Nicoletta held positions in the Greater Washington, D.C. area as music director of the Takoma Mandoleers mandolin-guitar orchestra, faculty at Levine Music at The Music Center at Strathmore, and teaching artist in the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra’s El Sistema-inspired Sympatico program. During the 2021-2022 season, Nicoletta was an assistant conductor for the Greensboro Symphony, awarded second place winner in The American Prize’s competition, and made a European debut with the Athens Philharmonia Orchestra in Greece.
Nicoletta has been invited to conduct orchestras across the country and internationally, including the Omaha Symphony, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Denver Philharmonic, Wintergreen Music Festival, Symphony Tacoma/Cascade Conducting Orchestra, Athens (Greece) Philharmonia, and musicians from the Atlanta Symphony. Nicoletta earned a Master of Music in conducting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Bachelor of Music in music education from James Madison University. Nicoletta is a founder of the National Association of Medical Orchestras and member of the American String Teachers Association, College Orchestra Directors Association, and Classical Mandolin Society of America. Outside of music, Nicoletta is enthusiastic about coffee and latte art, exploring new cuisines, and spending time with her husband David and Clover (5-year-old mini-goldendoodle).
