No Plaid Required: An Evening of Bagpipe Music

Bring a blanket and a picnic dinner, and enjoy the festive sounds of Albemarle Pipes and Drums, a traditional Scottish and British Isles-style pipe and drum corps from Charlottesville, Virginia. We’ll be taking donations to be shared between WPA’s and Albemarle Pipes’ educational initiatives and RVCC’s community work. And, of course, we’ll have libations for purchase, so we can all be Scottish for a day. Sláinte!

Asheville Rock! Tradition Meets Creativity with River Whyless: Wild Wednesday II

Featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, River Whyless is a creative, exciting new band from Asheville, North Carolina. The band combines the old-fashioned sounds of bluegrass and folk with more modern sensibilities. From its website: “River Whyless is a band much like that titular body of water – a mingling of currents, a flow of time and physical space, all brought together in a murmuring sense of purpose.” What does this mean? Well, come and find out!
