Philip Drembus, percussion

Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, Philip Drembus is a second-year percussion fellow in The Orchestra Now at Bard Conservatory. An active freelancer, Philip has performed with ensembles including the Washington National Opera Orchestra, Toledo Symphony, Richmond Symphony, and Cathedral Choral Society, among others. During the summer, he has attended the Miami Music Festival, Sewanee Summer Music Festival, and in 2019 was a selected participant in the U.S. Air Force Band Collegiate Symposium.

Philip has had the opportunity to work under the baton of conductors including Alain Trudel, Valentina Peleggi, Anthony Parnther, Evan Rogister, and has performed on such stages as Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Arts, and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Arts. A passionate educator, Philip taught percussion in the Fairfax County public school system and taught private lessons as an instructor at Expressions Music Academy before joining The Orchestra Now.

Philip received his Bachelor's degree from George Mason University and his Master’s Degree from Northwestern University. In this capacity he had the opportunity to perform at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, the McCormick Marimba Festival, and the Northshore Percussion Festival. His teachers over his years of study include John Kilkenny, John Spirtas, Jonathan Rance, She-e Wu, and Feza Zweifel. Outside of percussion, Philip enjoys playing tennis and listening to a good audiobook.
