Ben Hauser, trumpet

Benjamin Hauser is currently the Associate Principal Trumpet in the North Carolina Symphony. He previously held positions with The Florida Orchestra, Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and York Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, he has performed with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Sarasota Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic, and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.

After starting trumpet at age 12, Hauser discovered a passion for jazz and classical music in the Texas music education system. Hauser earned his undergraduate degree at Baylor University studying with Wiff Rudd and Mark Schubert. A master’s degree followed at Southern Methodist University under the tutelage of Tom Booth, Fourth Trumpet in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. 

Following graduation, Hauser moved to Washington, D.C., to join the U.S. Navy Concert and Ceremonial Band. During his enlistment he was also a member of the Navy Band Brass Quintet. 

Hauser was a founding member of Apex Brass, which went on to win second prize in the Bucharest International Music Competition in 2021. Other career highlights include a brass quintet tour in Shanghai, and performing J.S. Bach’s “Brandenburg” Concerto No. 2 with the York Symphony Orchestra.
