Lauren Floyd is a timpanist and percussionist who, as the Charleston Gazette-Mail describes, “play[s] with subtlety and grandeur.” She is currently serving as Principal Timpanist of the West Virginia Symphony. She is also a Fischoff National Chamber Competition Bronze Medalist alongside the other members of her trio, Lineage Percussion. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Georgia and a Master of Music from the University of Maryland.

An avid performer, Lauren has played with the Cleveland Orchestra, National Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, Tucson Symphony, Erie Philharmonic, Maryland Symphony, and Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.  She has also played internationally with the National Arts Centre Orchestra. She enjoys playing with chamber ensembles and choral groups such as the Eclipse Chamber Orchestra, City Choir, The Washington Chorus, Choral Arts Society of Washington, and the Children’s Chorus of Washington.

In constant support of her field, Lauren strives to be an active participant in advocating for her craft. While in her undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia, she was a member of the Percussive Arts Society University Committee. She has written pieces for two magazines, the Percussive Arts Society’s Rhythm! Scene and Yamaha’s Support Ed. Lauren served as the Percussion Coordinator for the National Orchestral Institute + Festival between 2019 and 2022. She has also presented masterclasses at all levels. She appreciates the opportunity to share her passion about the importance of music and the arts with young minds.

When she’s not performing, you’ll find Lauren outside on a trail with her husband.
