Anna Balchunas
Summer Box Office Manager & Sing with Us! Asssistant, Wintergreen Music
Anna Balchunas is currently serving her first season as the Summer Box Office Manager and Sing with Us assistant with The Wintergreen Music Festival. Additionally, she is the Artistic Director of The Serenity Chorus, Chorus President of The City Choir of Washington, Instrumental Director at Messiah United Methodist Church, and proud Choral Director at Brentsville District High School. Previous work includes serving as Section Leader for The Arts Chorale of Winchester, Section Leader at Trinity Episcopal Church, Upperville, and teaching private voice and piano lessons through Dolly Jones Music Studio.
Maintaining education at the heart of her philosophy, Anna holds a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education from Shenandoah Conservatory, studying under Dr. Hillary Ridgley and Dr. Stephanie Standerfer, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Music Business from Berklee College of Music under Dr. John Kellogg. She actively continues her professional development through engagement with the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). One of her proudest achievements includes co-founding and serving as Chapter President for Shenandoah Conservatory’s ACDA student chapter for three years.
Anna has performed as a chorister internationally in France, Germany, and Austria, with continued travel with The City Choir of Washington on their upcoming tour in Brazil (Summer 2025). She has also studied artistic performing arts and leadership management in Brazil under the guidance of Dr. David Edelman and Dr. Sanja Petricic.
She is also actively engaged in the local DMV community theatre scene. Through her work music directing productions such as Finding Nemo Jr., and Into the Woods, along with producing The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Oliver!, Avenue Q, and The Prom, Anna has been honored with numerous accolades from The Washington Area Theatre Community Honors (WATCH). In 2024 she was also named Brentsville’s Novice Teacher of the Year for her developmental work with young artists and cultivating a nurturing community for music education.
